The Holy bible war

the-holy-bible-hotels-cheap

The foremost fad that we like to do when we enter our hotel room is to nudge around, check out every drawer and look for the free gifts made available in the room. Apparently, every hotel has had a tradition of stocking the world’s largest selling book of all times, the holy bible in every drawer of its hotel room one time or the other. But I can’t just remember when I last saw it! Even cheap hotels have increasingly geeked up their rooms with flamboyant screens, wi-fi support, classy lamps and luxurious furnishings, but have they really lost their spiritual side?

A recent survey by the Hotel consulting industry shows that more than 50% of the visitors do not read the holy bible and a majority of the remaining prefer to have a range of spiritual books ranging from inspirational books for secular humans to Buddhism. Juliana Shallcross, Editor at hotelchatter says “I never use it but I like the security of knowing that anytime you need spiritual help, it's right there in your nightstand. However, maybe they could ditch bibles and offer spiritual meditations for all religions?” Although it’s a great idea to go about diverse luxury or cheap hotels around the world and fancy reading Koran when in Middle East or Buddha in Asia, but wouldn’t it be just fantastic to get a range of physical books around you wherever you go?

I admit it; it is not just in my bag to go through the whole books especially when traveling for work or for leisure with family on a long awaited vacation. Nevertheless in these spiritually-challenging times, I come to the conclusion that some books might be useful for certain guests before they call it a day. But should the necessary encouragement come only from the Bible or a different sacred book? So how can a hotel cater to everyone? Or should they even bother?

Cheap hotels to be revamped into Ralph Lauren Stores?

ralph-lauren-store-cheap-hotels

A recent article in the New York Daily News, hinted on the subject of fashion designer Ralph Lauren perhaps buying a cheap hotel in long Island and transforming it into one of his signature studios of Ralph Lauren Fashion Stores. Just a couple of months before Ralph Lauren also purchased a former historic hotel on the St. Germain Boulevard in Paris and flipped it into a retail space with renovated suites making space for his exclusive client lounges.

The hotel in the news is the 164 year old ‘The American Hotel’ in Sag Harbor, Long island. Inside news states that cheap hotels such as these have proved to be fortunate for the Ralph Lauren brand name. Above and beyond this also brings a fresh perception to the retail industry in modern times where still a lot of retail is done in a conventional manner. Though it is just speculation and no confirmation from Ralph Lauren has been received but what chains the talk is the fact that the owner of ‘The American Hotel’ Mr. Ted Conklin has scheduled some of his prime properties for sale or for rent after marrying his high school sweetheart recently. Now that the couple is looking forward to move out of Sag Harbor, this only seems a wise thing to do. The locals maintain that the hotel is a remarkable site for the brand. In case the deal goes trough well, things only seem to get healthier amidst cheap hotels around the world and the Ralph Lauren Fashion house.

Marriott on the move

marriott-hotels-cheap-dubai

In the hotel business what a client looks forward to is probably a safe and a comfortable place where he can have a good night’s sleep and perhaps some memorable experiences to take back home. It certainly is a delight if you get something much more than expected. In the recent situation in Bangkok where political unrest overwhelmed Bangkok’s streets for almost a month, life almost came to a standstill. However papers report that over 5 different properties of Marriott International were closed down and guests had to be shifted to safer spaces across other hotels. What truly remained was the responsibility on the employees of hotels across the place to protect their properties from potential damage by the protestors.

In his blog, Bill Marriott Chairman and CEO of Marriott International writes “Heroism and dedication to duty takes many forms and none of us know when and how we’ll be called to face the challenge. Heroism is not always recognized, but I’m very proud and want to salute the men and women of these hotels, led by their respective General Managers. Everyone did what they had to do to protect their hotels. I am very proud of all of them.” This is an occurrence of enormous dedication for duty by all the people in Bangkok allied to Marriott in some or the other way. Cheap hotels is proud to be associated with professionals of this caliber and a hotel group which has such high values. Great to go Marriott International!

Fake Hotels to rule the world!

gucci-hotels

Big Fashion houses like Armani, Versace and Cartier already own a major chunk of the fashion hotel industry across the globe and with the coming of a new chain of Gucci Hotels the consumer will only be spoilt for better options to choose from, only the Gucci hotels have no relation with the fashion house Gucci. According to the Bloomberg news, the daughter of the late fashion mogul Paolo Gucci is planning to open up an 87 suite fashion hotel in Dubai by the end of this year. Elisabetta currently owns the EG Hotels Company after her name Elisabetta Gucci.

The hotel will showcase exclusive designer furniture built by Formitalia and is expected to give a good run for money to hotels in its league. This is one of the cheap hotels in the genre of fashion hotels in Dubai. Lorens Ziller, Managing director of EG Hotels says, “We are planning to open 40 of these in the coming 15 years.” On the other hand, Gucci is intimidating an official deed against EG Hotels to make certain that by no chance is the Gucci fashion brand involved in any of the bits and pieces associated with the EG hotel. This only leaves the EG Hotels group stripped off any Gucci logos and Gucci designs since the fashion house has barred them from using any. We just hope Elisabetta was not counting only on the Gucci brand name in her 15 year plan for the company.
