  1. St Peter's Basilica: The road and the square leading to this magnificent church are just as lovely as the basilica itself. Though there is no cost to get inside but there is a dress code which has to be strictly followed. A visit to the Vatican Grottoes underneath the basilica is a must.
  2. Open Air Markets: Via Sannio Market and Porta Portese Market are the best known flea markets in Rome. It is absolutely free of charge to experience shopping in Rome as the Romans do. When in Rome, make it a point to visit the best known open air food markets such as Mercato di Trionfale.
  3. Gianiculum hill: If you are one of those, who enjoy scenic beauty, this is the place for you to be at. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city atop the hill where you will also find a 17th century fountain and a statue.
  4. Appia Antica: The Appia Antica makes way for a lovely walk with many ancient ruins to keep you company along with. This is definitely something if you wish to enjoy some peaceful time away from the bustling traffic of the city.
  5. Villa Torlonia: Once home to Mussolini's family, this beautiful villa houses amazing gardens and an exquisite museum called the Casina dellle Civette which is remarkable for its glass windows.

  9. Vatican Museums: Entry to the Vatican museums is free on every last Sunday of the month. Another great way to explore and feel the true spirit of Rome.
  10. Collosseum: The unofficial mascot of Rome where the strongest of the gladiators fought amongst themselves. It doesn’t cost anything to appreciate the beauty of this place from outside though.
