If you have a wish list and a clear set of priorities, then you have just met the world’s best trip planner – “yourself”. Just a few clicks on the right websites and in minutes you can be sure of where you wish to go, what you want to experience and the hotel where you can stay at. And all of it can be done within the time and money at your disposal. The amazing part is that you do not shell out any money from your pockets for all this information. For starters, write your favored location in our search box and be flabbergasted by the array of choices available.

Be it work or pleasure, the hotel you stay in always makes a trip unforgettable. Now, if you rather have a blissful experience than a horrid one, you need to have detailed information of the place you are making your makeshift home for those few days of the trip. For illustration, the amenities the hotel provides or the places of interest around the hotel which can be explored. You can choose a hotel room overlooking the Thames from its balcony, with a locker in the room, pool in the hotel and The Big Ben at a stone’s throw. Some prefer hotels that have a ‘history ‘to them. For instance, some would be really excited to spend a night at the hotel where the Obama’s might have stayed during their campaigning days. Or how about an old colonial-jail-turned-luxury hotel!! Some may even choose a riverside camp resort to a tranquilizing spa hotel.

But of late, things have changed. Take for example a ski break, whose idea excites every person who has faced even a few weeks of the scorching summer sun. Even though it has a unique selling point, the ski travel market has shrunk almost 8% in the last season. Such destinations now have a spare capacity in flights, transfers and accommodation. The big question for the 2011/2012-winter season is whether the current financial austerity measures reduce the number of ski travelers even further and what impact will this have on ski accommodation prices?

The fact is that the recent financial crisis and the recession broke the backs of many economies and international corporations. These crises lead to a fall in tourism and business travel alike. But like every coin has two sides, this one has an upside too. The hotels have had to cut down their tariffs to attract more people to their abodes. Recent surveys suggest that European hotel prices are about 12 percent lesser than what they were in January 2009. In Dublin alone the average price of a standard double room is 32 percent less than last year. So the upside is that trips might not be as expensive as you think.

So what have you had in mind? Paris in springtime? Beach time in Barcelona? Hold on to your passports and get ready to hop across the pond!
